OUGD603: Brief 2 - OAC Photography // UI/Iconography Research

I'm adding a Google Maps element to the website, and other elements which will require a style of iconography. A decent looking set of icons is vital for the UI and the UX of the website.

I follow VW on Google+ and they post a number of ads with some really interesting simple icons. They're often used in an overlay, so the icons are really basic and bold, so they're able to work against the background - any background. Pictured is a really simple stop watch using the fundamental elements, the stripped down basics to create the watch.

Using really simple shapes and lines to capture the essential elements of whatever it's representing. Not overly complex.

The icon I'm particularly interested in is the location icons. I'll be working with Google Maps elements within the contact page of OAC Photography's website. Really simple and instantly recognisable as the location pin.

In comparison to the standard Google pin, which doesn't really fit the style of the website in any way.

I've also noticed whilst looking at Google maps that all the maps must have the Google copyright message on it in some place.
